Abstract

1309330 Liquefied gas storage tanks BRIDGESTONE LIQUEFIED GAS CO Ltd 31 Dec 1970 [14 Jan 1970] 61932/70 Heading F4P A liquefied gas storage tank comprises an inner membrane vessel 3, e.g. of sheet Al, Nisteel or stainless steel the roof 3d of which is attached to the side wall 3a by way of a flexible curved portion 3c which is upwardly bowed as shown at ordinary temperatures, an outer vessel 1 surrounding the inner vessel 3 with the interposition of a compression resistant insulation layer 2, e.g. hard foamed polyurethane, and a tube 5 secured at its lower end to a central part of the roof 3d and connected to the outer vessel 1 through heat insulation 6, 7, 8. The arrangement is such that the roof 3d of the inner vessel 3 is supported and prevented from sagging, by the outer vessel 1 via the insulation 2d at ordinary temperatures, the flexible portion 3c adopting the profile indicated by dotted line 3Q when the tank is filled with low temperature liquefied gas.
