Abstract

1309292 Pistons P L PANIGATI 6 April 1970 16264/70 Heading F2T A piston for a fluid pressure cylinder having a damping chamber 13, 14 comprises an elastic sleeve-like piston head 3, e.g. of rubber, supported by a disc member 1, the head 3 having bulbous rims 7 and a relatively narrowed portion 6. The disc 1, possibly welded to a piston rod 2, may engage in a groove 5 of the head 3, opposing rims 7 facing respective chambers 13, 14 defined by end members 9, 10 locked into a cylinder liner 4 by resilient metal rings 11. Alternatively, Fig. 3 (not shown), the disc (1a) may be peripherally beaded for engagement with the groove of the head (3a), or separate head portions (3b), Fig. 4 (not shown), may be glued or vulcanized to each face of the disc (lc). Further, Fig. 5 (not shown), separate discs (1d) may mount respective head portions (3c), or annular members 3e, Fig. 6, bearing respective head portions 3d may be secured to the disc 1g, e.g. by segmental members 3f. The cylinder may be single or double acting, inlet/ outlet ports 16, 25 being provided in the end members 9, 10, with passages, e.g. 18, 19, 21, 22, (also similarly in member 9), leading through a no-return valve 20 and an adjustable throttling valve 23 providing for damping.
