1309273 Suction fastenings NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 18 Oct 1971 [23 Oct 1970] 50583/70 Heading E2A A suction pad for underwater use has a water-filled sealing rim 3 and its enclosed volume 5 is evacuated by air injected at 8 (e.g. from a cylinder) which passes via jets 9 into a vertical pipe 10 from which it ejects the water, thus reducing the pressure at weakly loaded valve 6 and withdrawing water from space 5. The pad may be oval to facilitate engagement of curved surfaces.
