Abstract
1308870 Refractometer SOC D'OPTIQUE PRECISION ELECTRONIQUE ET MECANIQUE 23 June 1971 [23 June 1970] 29454/71 Heading G1A An apparatus for indicating that a desired concentration of a solution 1, Fig.1, has been reached comprises means for directing light from a source 8 inclinedly upon an internal plane surface 6 of a prism 5, a pair of photo-cells 14, 15, means for directing the light internally reflected by surface 6 towards the photo-cells, means for deriving a signal related to the difference in illumination of the two cells which are spaced in the direction in which the boundary formed by the limit of the totally reflected light moves and the photo-cells are adjustably mounted on a track against a scale, so that the area closely monitored can be pre-set. The apparatus is described with reference to monitoring sugar concentration during jam making.
