Abstract
1307577 Blast furnace tuyeres HERMANN RAPPOLD & CO GmbH 1 April 1970 15521/70 Heading F4B A water cooled blast furnace tuyere 2 comprises a hollow baffle 6 disposed within the tuyere and defining therewith an annular water space 10 at the head of the tuyere to which water is supplied by pipe 11 extending through said baffle and the tuyere base 1 and also defining return water spaces 14, 15 leading to an annular chamber 20 with an outlet 21. Three adjustable screws 22 in the base 1 enable the location of the baffle and helical radial fins 18, 19 are disposed on its walls 6, 7. Annular space 10 is divided by a partition 13, Fig. 2 and inlet pipe 11 enters by a curved end on one side of this partition, slits 16 on the other side opening into said water spaces 14, 15. In a modification (Figs. 4 and 5), the inlet (40) opens into the hollow baffle (28) from which ports (33, 34) open into the single water space (35) around said baffle near the tuyere head. The baffle is located by screws engaging the tuyere head.
