Abstract

1307011 Spreading implement C VAN DER LELY NV 5 March 1970 [11 March 1969 6 May 1969] 10740/70 Heading AID A spreading implement comprises two units 9 and 10, Fig. 1, each having a hopper, a screen and a horizontal centrifugal spreading plate, arranged at the ends of supporting beams 3 and 4 carried by a tractor 2. The lateral separation of the units 9 and 10 may be varied by swinging beams 3 and 4 about a central pivot (5). The units are driven through a belt and pivot system by the tractor. Each unit 9 and 10 comprises a hopper 29, spreading plate 34 and screen 36. A pair of discs 31 and 32 have holes in them, which line up with the exit hole 32a in the bottom of the hopper. The discs may be rotated about an axis 15 to adjust both the size of the hopper discharge orifice and its angular position about the axis 15. The screen 36 is intended to remove the kinetic energy of particles incident on it and is carried by brackets 37, attached to the hopper, and 40. The bottom of the screen may move if it contacts an obstacle. The screen may have a number of configurations: (1) It may extend from 61 through 62 to 106 as shown in Fig. 2. (2) It may extend from 62 to 106 only. (3) It may have a flexible section or a hinged section corresponding to the portion 61 to 62, so that the same implement may be used in the configuration of (1) or (2) above.
