1306482 Reservoir applicators; carpet cleaners LEIFHEIT INTERNATIONAL GUNTER LEIFHEIT KG 9 Sept 1971 [12 Sept 1970] 42127/71 Headings A4K and A4F In a carpet cleaner, liquid cleaning agent passes from a container 14 via a trough-shaped distributor 56 to a foam producing roller 15 in contact with two further rollers 16, 17 such that the material of the rollers is partially compressed and the cleaning agent is foamed when the rollers are rotated. A plate-like, rectangular float 28 which floats on the liquid is contained within the container, the float having on its upper side a channel 24 which is connected via a duct 45 with the distributor, the duct being closed by a flap 49. The duct is opened on rotation of rollers 21 which guide the cleaner along the carpet and which are connected to bearings (54) Fig.2 (not shown) on either side of the flap. During reciprocating movement of the cleaner over a carpet, the differences in the mass inertia of the cleaning liquid and the float 28, cause the element to become immersed in the liquid or the liquid to wash over the float such that part of the liquid passes into the channel 24, through the duct 45 and into the distributor 56. The float 28 may be lifted away from the surface of the liquid by a framework 33 positioned below the float and having a laterally projecting stud (37), Fig.3 (not shown) which bears against a helical cam surface (38) on a cylindrical member inserted in the charging orifice of the container and rotatable from outside the container. The subject matter is identical with that of Specification 1306483, the claims of which relate to the discharge duct of the container being provided in the float.
