Abstract
1306120 Forming container-assemblies MEAD-EMBALLAGE SA 12 June 1970 [13 June 1969] 28566/70 Heading B8C A machine for forming an assembly comprising two cups P suspended by their rims from a folded blank F comprises a conveyer 12 carrying apertured supports (18, Figs. 5 and 6), means to deliver flat blanks F to the supports (18) so that the holes O in the blanks register with the apertures in the supports, means for delivering cups P to the apertured supports so that the cup rims engage holes O in the blank, folding plates (44, Fig. 8) for folding panels H, I, K, M of the blanks up and over the top of the cups, and means 46 for applying adhesive to the panels I and M to seal same together. The blanks may have printed tongues L which are bent downwardly by the inserted cups. The blanks F are withdrawn from a stack 31 by a device having pivotal arms carrying suction cups which place the blanks between rubber rollers 34, 35 which then carry the blanks past a marking device 36 for placement on the sup ports (18). The cups are fed to the machine on a conveyer 28 which feeds them to a toothed wheel (24, Fig. 3) for placement above the conveyer 12. As the cups leave the wheel, they are pushed downwardly into the apertured supports by an inclined flexible stationary plate 40. A microswitch co-operates with the plate 40 to stop the machine if a cup is not correctly placed. Completed assemblies are lifted from the conveyer 12 by an inclined plate 47 and a toothed wheel 48.
