Abstract

1305712 Hydraulic press frames FLUID POWER Ltd 1 June 1970 [30 May 1969] 27446/69 Heading B5F A press frame is constructed as a closed loop having substantially semi-circular end portions 7, 8 and parallel straight side portions 9, 10 and being formed of a filamentary and/or fibrous reinforced plastic or resinous material, the filaments or fibres of which are oriented along the direction of the loop. A movable platen 14 is disposed, between a pair of yokes 11, 12 each of substantially semicircular crosssection, and a ram chamber 13 is formed in the lower yoke 12. The frame may consist of a filamentary and/or fibrous reinforced resinous matrix 21 wound upon a channel-sectioned metal former 22, Fig. 4. A plurality of such frame elements may be stacked side-by-side. Lubricants such as molybdenum disulphide or graphite may be dispersed in the matrix.
