The material to be lubricated may comprise a pharmaceutical agent in which the excipient is a carbohydrate or a derivative thereof of, e.g. xylitol, mannitol and sorbitol, a hexose or a pentose, a reducing disaccharide or a non reducing disaccharide. The composition to be tabletted may also comprise one or more substances which assist disintegration of the tablets in water, e.g. ingredients which react together in water to produce carbon dioxide, e.g. alkalimetal carbonates or bicarbonates and tartaric or citric acid or partial alkali metal salts thereof.
