Abstract

1305424 Weft detectors E SICK 10 March 1970 [14 March 1969] 11318/70 Heading DIE A photoelectric weft bobbin monitor comprises a reflector 13 on the shuttle body 11 and reflecting means on the bobbin 9 which produces a contrast step when the bobbin is nearly empty and first and second photocells 6 and 7 for receiving light reflected from the reflector 13 and bobbin surface respectively, and means responsive to signals from both photocells to initiate bobbin change or loom stoppage. The contrast step may be provided by alternate black and white rings on the bobbin surface, or by using a black bobbin with light coloured yarn and vice versa. The reflector 13 may be a reflex-reflector, reflecting light from a bulb 2 back along its path of incidence. The output of photocell 8 may be fed to an amplifier which amplifies a.c. signals only, and then with that of photocell 7 to an AND gate.
