Abstract

130,500. Morris, Ltd., H., Robertson, G. A., and Weston, W. N. Sept. 12, 1918. Geared pulley-hoists; motor-driven pulleyhoists; stopping automatically at end of run; self-sustaining gear. - The transmission unit of a motor-driven pulley-hoist includes three parallel shafts disposed in an horizontal plane and mounted in a rigid structure, one outside shaft carrying the rotor of the actuating motor and the other outside shaft carrying the rope barrel. The stator is cast integral with the structure A, and the shaft of the rotor E carries at one end elements of a lowering speed governor brake G of the usual centrifugal type and at the other end elements of an electro-magnetic selfsustaining brake which comprises a fixed disk M, a rotary disk L and a magnetic keeper K. The keeper is pressed against the disk L by springs Q when no current is supplied to the motor, but when the motor is working, current is also supplied to the coil N contained in the casting J, the keeper is attracted and the disk L is freed. The drum T is driven from the motor shaft through gears R, S, shaft C, and gears U, V. The spindle of the controller c is automatically centred in the " off " position by a spring k, and at one end is provided with a lever d which is actuated by a link f and lever e. The lever e is arranged in the path of the bottom block, and prevents overwinding. The hoist is suspended by a loop b which is cast integral with the structure A.
