Abstract
1304783 Rotary retort furnaces ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP 2 Sept 1970 [19 Dec 1969] 7982/72 Divided out of 1304782 Heading F4B A rotary retort furnace for the production of HF by reaction of fluorspar with sulphuric acid has a pair of helical passageways 100 disposed round the inner shell wall 10 formed with inlet openings 102 for residual material near an annular dam 12 and discharge openings 104 near the first end wall 40. In a modification (Fig. 2) one helical passageway is used associated with a central recycling screw (60) as disclosed in Specification 1,304,782. The heating jacket 20 and discharge means are also as disclosed in the aformentioned Specification.
