Abstract
1304545 Starting HUSQVARNA VAPENFABRIKS AB 13 March 1970 12158/70 Heading F1K A device for starting an internal-combustion engine comprises a turning mechanism 8, 9, 12 which is connectable to the crank shaft 2 which can be manually rotated by means of that mechanism in the normal direction of rotation of the engine until that one 26 of the pistons used for starting has just passed its top dead centre position. A gas pressure container (not shown) is connected to the engine combustion or working chamber above the piston via a valve 24 by which the gas under pressure is admitted into the chamber and drives the engine at least through a power stroke. Automatic means of setting the starting position is provided comprising a pawl 14 eccentrically fastened to the crank shaft and co-operating with a pawl catch positioned in the crank case in the path of movement of the pawl, the connection between the automatic setting means and the crank shaft being disengaged when the piston reaches the starting position. A pin 10 may be arranged to open the valve 24 when the piston is set in the starting position. A modified form of the turning mechanism is described.
