Abstract
1303938 Geodetic instruments CARL ZEISS JENA VEB 2 Nov 1971 50887/71 Heading G1F [Also in Division G2] In a geodetic instrument, for example a theodolite, a telescope 10 is rigidly mounted, by screws 12, to a single hollow shaft 6 which rotates within supports 2, 3 about a horizontal axis XX. A graduated circle 7 measures the resulting angle of tilt. Optical axis OO and axis XX intersect on a vertical axis YY about which the telescope rotates, angles about this axis YY being determined by an alidade 1. Holes 11 in the shaft 6 permit light to pass down the telescope 10. Dismantling is facilitated by removing a cover 9 and screws 12 thereby allowing withdrawal of the shaft 6. In a modification the dimensions are such that the telescope 10 passes through holes in the shaft 6.
