Abstract

1303936 Resiliently mounted, adjustable vehicle seats K G NYSTROM 22 Oct 1971 [26 Nov 1970] 49216/71 Headings A4J and A4U Also in Division F2] An arrangement for resiliently taking up substantially horizontal forces acting in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle seat comprises a horizontal frame 6 in which a further horizontal frame 5 is displaceably received, compression springs 10 connected between the two frames biasing the frames towards a predetermined position and acting in the longitudinal direction of the seat. A pair of axially aligned compression springs 10 are provided on each side of the arrangement, each pair having their inner ends connected to a mounting 11 on frame 6 and their outer ends connected to mountings 12 on frame 5. A further frame 7 on which the seat rest is mounted may be mounted on frame 6 for longitudinal displacement therealong, the frame 7 being locked in the adjusted position by spring- loaded pawls 14 engaging in openings 16 formed in the frame 6. A backrest support 8 movable between two stable end positions may be pivotally mounted adjacent the front end of the frame 7. The arrangement may be mounted between a seat rest and a supporting structure adapted to take up substantially vertical forces.
