1303562 2,4- and 2,6-Toluylenediamine CENTRALA INDUSTRIALA DE INGRASAMINTE CHIMICE 12 March 1971 6717/71 Heading C2C 2,4- or 2,6-Toluylenediamine is prepared by the catalytic reduction of 2,4- or 2,6-dinitrotoluene respectively, the reaction being carried out in toluene using ammonia synthesis gas (containing H 2 75%, N 2 25% by vol.) or purge gas (containing 60% H 2 ,40% N 2 by vol.), at a temperature of about 150‹ C. and a pressure of about 50 atmospheres pressure and in the presence of a Raney copper catalyst.
