Abstract

1303366 Piston dispensers P C COX (MASTIC APPLANCES) Ltd 8 Dec 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 58269/70 Heading F1R A dispenser for a viscous material, e.g. mastic caulking material, comprises a holder 10 for a cartridge 2, a threaded rod 12 and a nut 11 through which the rod passes and which is mounted on the holder 10 in a manner permitting inversion of the nut and rod with respect to the holder. The holder 10 is a generally U-shaped length of wire having its free ends formed into closed eyes 23, 24, and the nut 11 is provided with trunnions 18, 19 rotatably mounted within the eyes. The bight of the U-shape is looped to form a resilient mouth (27), Fig.3, (not shown), to receive the neck 6 of the cartridge. The nut may alternatively be carried in a recess in the holder so that when the cartridge is empty the nut and rod can be slipped out of the holder, inverted, and then re-positioned. The rod 12 is provided with knobs 31, 32 at its ends which fit into a plunger 7 within the cartridge, and each knob may be provided with a diametral hole to receive a tommy bar. If the cartridge does not possess a plunger, the ends of the rod 12 carry plungers shaped to seal with the cartridge wall.
