1303319 Coatings ENAMELLERS (ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE) Ltd LOYNE Ltd C P STOKES H H F STOKES K R STOKES and G A MANIFOLD 3 May 1971 [8 April 1970] 16602/70 Heading B2E A process for producing articles having a surface coating of polytetrafluoroethylene in which an article made of a ferrous material is provided with a porous vitreous enamel base coat which does not contain free quartz or metal and then a coating of polytetrafluoroethylene is applied after firing. The surface of the article may be prepared by pickling or shot blasting before the application of the vitreous enamel coat. The enamel may be applied by dipping or spraying and may be fired at 800-810‹C. The PTFE coating may be applied with a dispersion which may or may not be pigmented and one or two coats may be applied. The method may be used for application to domestic and catering appliances.
