1303280 Vehicle power steering DAVID BROWN TRACTORS Ltd 20 Dec 1971 [23 Dec 1970] 61265/70 Heading B7H An hydraulic power steering system comprises a closed-centre, steering wheel-operated metering device 15, which may be rotary, and a piston-and-cylinder motor 10, 11, 12. To prevent erratic steering and oil cavitation due to tyre "wind-up" when changing the direction of steer, a pressure relief valve, comprising, e.g., a ball 23 and seat 22, which opens away from the cylinder 10 is provided in the line between the metering device 15 and the rod-end of the cylinder 10 in parallel with a non-return valve, comprising, e.g., two O-rings 26 and seats 25, which opens in the opposite sense.
