Abstract
1303190 Recovery of fluorine values from gypsum CHEMIEBAU DR A ZIEREN GmbH & CO KG 5 June 1970 [6 June 1969] 27186/70 Heading C1A Fluorine values are recovered from gypsum (obtained by decomposition of phosphate rock with sulphuric acid) by heating to 110-200‹ C. with sufficient sulphuric acid to provide 1À5- 5% wt. of H 2 SO 4 and scrubbing the evolved gas which consists substantially of HF and SiF 4 . The preferred scrubbing solution is aqueous fluosilicic acid which is concentrated by absorbtion of the gases and recycling to the scrubbing stage to obtain a fluosilicic acid of maximum preferred concentration 30% wt.
