1303044 Latex concentrates and foams RUBBER RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF MALAYA 17 Sept 1970 [17 Sept 1969] 45907/69 Headings C3C and C3E A material rubber latex concentrate is made suitable for the production of a latex foam showing reduced shrinkage during vulcanization by adding to the concentrate at least 0À5% by weight, on the dry rubber content, of an alkali metal or ammonium salt of a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid or of a rosin acid, said addition being made not more than two weeks after tapping. In the examples, potassium laurate or potassium caprylate is added to the latex, which is then stored before being blended with vulcanizing agents, sodium silicofluoride and, optionally, butadiene-styrene rubber and whiting filler, foamed and vulcanized.
