Abstract

1302803 Stays T P VENTER 25 March 1971 7820/71 Heading E2F An adjustable stay for locking open in any position windows, doors or the like comprises two members'6 and 8 in telescopic relationship a tubular member 8 being at least in part of non-circular cross-section and the elongated member 6 having a cooperating portion 7 also of non-circular cross-section such that on relative rotation of the members they lock together. In the embodiment the tube 8 is of oval cross-section, the member 6, a rod, being pivotally attached to a bracket 4 on the fixed frame 1 of a window, the tube 8 being fixed to the movable part 2 of the window and rotatable, a helix 14 urged by a spring 15 in a housing 12 urging the tube towards the position in which it locks with the locking formation 7, a handle 11 serving to unlock this. The helix 14 also causes movement of the tube 8 such that the end 9 of the tube 8 projects beyond the edge of the movable window frame which forms a catch for securing the window in its closed position by projecting across the frame 1.
