Abstract
1302302 X-ray apparatus CARL ZEISS JENA VEB 15 July 1970 34336/70 Heading H5R X-ray apparatus permitting rapid examination of a crystal 8 mounted on a goniometer head 3 by a convergent X-ray beam from a line focus 21 includes an X-ray film 23 mounted in a cylindrical magazine 1 having a detachable lid 2 and a beam-defining steel diaphragm 11 of flat, truncated, pyramidal form, having an angle of convergence up to 15 degrees and with a portion 13 at its aperture end of polyvinylchloride, for trapping secondary X-rays. After passage through the crystal, the primary beam is received in a flat pyramidal lead trap 14 which is filled with polyvinylchloride 15, is supported from the lid 2 of the magazine, and has a convergence angle appropriate to that of the collimator 11. The equipment can be lined up with the X-ray beam by moving trap 14 aside to permit incidence of the beam on a fluorescent foil 18 covered by protective lead glass 19, and adjusting the feet 20. In a modified arrangement (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown), the diaphragm 11 is supported by an upright column (24) which extends from the goniometer control box 5 and which may be adjustably secured to the X-ray tube housing (25). The magazine 1 is open at the side contacting the column, and is mounted on a slide (26) on the box 5.
