Abstract

1301922 Ingot moulds AIKOH CO Ltd 6 Feb 1970 [18 Feb 1969] 5827/70 Heading B3F [Also in Divisions C3 and C5] A board for use in heat-insulating the top surface of a melt surface in an igot mould 1 and of the type comprising an exothermic layer 3 and a heat-insulating layer 4 is provided with one or more holes 5 for the escape of gas generated in the mould. In an example the hole iscentrally placed and has a diameter of 50 mm. The board may be employed with a heat-insulating or exothermic hot-top sleeve 2 mounted on top of the mould 1 in the bottom pouring of steel and is placed over the mould mouth before commencing pouring.
