Abstract

Method for bottom feeding a foundry mould with a metal alloy with a high melting point subjected to a controlled differential pressure. In an installation comprising a closed melting furnace 1 containing a metal alloy M and a mould 2 applied in leaktight contact onto an orifice 11 of a casting spout 10 of the furnace 1, the mould 2 is placed inside a leaktight caisson 22. After casting of the alloy M in the mould 2, a reduced pressure is applied to the mould 2 while the furnace 1 is at atmospheric pressure. The level of the metal alloy M is thus brought to the threshold of the moulding cavity 16 of the mould 2. The mould 2 is then filled rapidly and without turbulence, exerting a pressure on the alloy M in the furnace 1 and maintaining the reduced pressure on the mould 2. Application to the casting of thin castings of complex shapes, in cast irons, steels and superalloys.
