Abstract

1301581 Centrifugally moulding tubes YOUNGSTOWN SHEET & TUBE CO 26 March 1970 [10 April 1969] 14869/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] Two-layered crack resistant pipes and tubes are made by positioning a cylindrical fibrous reinforcement in a cylindrical mould, centrifugally impregnating the reinforcement with a thermosetting resin such as a vinyl ester, curing the layer thus formed if desired, and finally applying to the inside of the layer a layer of powdered thermoplastic-resin dispersed within a thermosetting resin. The inner layer may be applied by slow or centrifugal rotation whilst the outer layer is retained within the mould or alternatively after it has been removed from the mould. The thermoplastic resin may be polyethylene, P.T.F.E., P.V.C. or nylon and the thermosetting resin may be a vinyl ester or polyester or an isophthalic polyester.
