Abstract

1301363 Threshing apparatus MASSEY-FERGUSON INC 9 April 1970 16855/70 Heading A1F A threshing apparatus comprises a rotating cylinder 18 and cooperable concave 20, the distance between the two being adjustable by the swinging of concave 20 about pivot axis 22, and wherein under excessive crop intake conditions the concave swings away from the cylinder automatically and returns to its former position when the over load is cleared. A pivotal rod 34 is attached by crank linkage 32, 24, 26 to the free end of concave 20, and by linkage 106 to the connecting rod 104 of a hydraulic ram 90. A three way valve 96 has an operating arm 116 with a floating lever 114, whose one end is connected to a link 117 which is attached via a crank to rod 34, and whose other end is connected to an operating lever 124 at the operator's station via flexible wire assembly 120. Movement of lever 124 either lowers the concave by allowing hydraulic pressure from pump P to enter line 24 (valve 96 moves to right as seen in the Figure) and act on ram 90, or raises it by supplying pressure to line 98 by connecting line 94 to sump 112 (valve 96 moves to left). The action of link 118 restores the lever 114 to the neutral position (shown thus in the figure) on movement of the concave by applying a reciprocal movement to 115. Under overload conditions the pressure acting on concave 20 is transmitted via levers and hydraulic lines to an overload-valve 110 which opens and allows concave 20 to fall due to reduced pressure in line 98. At the same time link 117 moves the bottom end of lever 114 to the left, connecting line 94 with sump and relieving any suction in that line. When the overload is removed, pressure in line 98 contracts the cam 90, valve 96 is returned to its neutral position and the concave 20 will have returned 'to its original position set by lever 124 and indicated by position indicator 50 on scale 46. In a simpler embodiment (Fig. 2) the overload is indicated by a warning signal 84, the operator then relieving the overload by moving operating lever 85 and restoring it to its original position on cleaning.
