Abstract
1301344 Heating foodstuffs M HOJO 14 April 1970 17792/70 Heading A4D An electrically heated, covered vessel adapted for heating foods comprises a generally cylindrical double walled container 1 and a lid assembly 2 both having walls of light metal which lid is provided near its periphery with an annular electrical heating element 11 connected to a plug 8 via a thermostat 12. A second covered vessel 3-4 containing foodstuffs is placed inside the container 1 and is heated by means of the element 11, upon replacing the lid 2, so that it rests on the ledge 9 of the inner wall 7, and connecting the plug 8 to a mains source. The food is heated by radiation from above and by conduction through the inner wall 7 of the container 1. The volume enclosed by the double walls is filled with a thermally insulating material 5, 6 and the topmost parts 10 of the container 1 is of an insulating substance. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the plug and thermostat are placed in the vessel (1) and the annular heating element (14) is placed near to the top periphery of the inner wall (7) beneath an annular projection (13). The foodstuffs (16) are introduced directly into the container (1).
