Abstract
1301189 Electrolytic machining DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 26 April 1971 [29 April 1970] 20678/70 Heading C7B [Also in Division B1] Sludge, containing insoluble metal hydroxides from an electrolytic machining apparatus 5 is passed by pump 4 into sludge separator 1 which comprises a cylindrical chamber 2 into which leads inlet duct 3, which is of increasing crosssection in the direction of flow. A denser layer 7 of sludge builds up at the bottom of the inlet and acts as a filter for incoming sludge. Clarified liquid rises through baffles 15, 16 and is removed via line 11 which contains filter elements 12, and is returned to the electrolytic apparatus. Half of the sludge inflow is continuously removed via line 13 to centrifugal separater 20 from which concentrated sludge is removed via line 27 and sludge reduced liquid is recycled via line 22.
