Abstract

1301138 N-Imidazolinylpolymeric acid amides TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 7 Aug 1970 38159/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division C7] The invention comprises an amide condensation product of the formula wherein R is a (C 17 to C 32 ) tall oil fatty acid radical, A is an ethylene or propylene radical; m is an integer from 1 to 6; R<SP>1</SP> is a hydrocarbonaceous moiety of a (C 15 to C 70 ) polymeric acid selected from dimer and trimer fatty acids and higher M.W. polymerized carboxylic acids, and n is an integer from 2 to 4. It may be obtained by condensing an appropriate polymeric acid with a 1-aminoalkyl-2-alkyl-2-imidazoline. Examples are given for the production of the compounds. They are useful as corrosion inhibitors for metals found in contact with petroliferous well fluids. 1 - Aminoalkyl - 2 - alkyl - 2 - imidazolines may be obtained by reacting stoichiometric amounts of a high M.W. monocarboxylic fatty acid with a polyalkylene polyamine of the formula H 2 N(A-NH) x H wherein x is an integer from 2 to 7.
