Abstract
1300690 Laying fabrics G. STUMPF 30 June 1971 [21 July 1970] 30728/71 Heading D1S A fabric laying machine comprises a laying carriage 7 reciprocable over a taple top I and having a carrier device 15 for a roll 16 of fabric to be laid on the table top and a magazine 26 arranged on: the carriage 7 to receive a plurality of fabric rolls 16a and which has a conveyor 27 for feeding the device 15 with fabric rolls one at a time. One side of the carriage 7 is provided with grooved wheels 8 which run on a circularsection rail 6 and the other side with wheels (9), Fig. 2 (not shown), which run on the table top 1. The device 15, comprising two bearing members 17 having grooves 18 to receive a rod 19 of a fabric roll 16, is arranged on a carriage 10 movable on rollers 12 transversely of the carriage 7 for edge alignment of the fabric 11 being laid, any misalignment being photoelectrically detected and controlled. Alternatively, edge control may be effected manually. The fabric 11 is fed by a roll 22, driven in synchronism with the carriage 7, to a laying head 24, comprising blades 23a, 23b, which forms a stack 11a. The head 24 may be suspended from a chain on the carriage 7 and adjusted to height manually or automatically according to the increasing height of the stack. The fabric may be folded or severed at the end of each lay. The conveyor 27 comprises two chains 27a passing around sprockets 30 on shafts 29 and which are arranged parallel to each other and spaced apart by a distance exceeding the width of a roll 16a. The rods 19 of the rolls 16a are supported by V-shape brackets 28 secured to the pivot pins 32 of the chains 27a. In a modification (not shown), the brackets 28 are mounted on the conveyor so that their apertures 31 always face upwardly and the rolls 16a may be fed to the conveyor on the lower run thereof. The conveyor 27 is movable by a hand crank 33 on one shaft 29 when it is desired to feed a fresh roll to the device 15. The empty rod 19 may be removed manually or by means on the conveyor 27.
