Abstract
1300654 Fermentation preparation of L-lysine TEKKOSHA KK 31 March 1970 [31 March 1969] 15152/70 Heading C2C L-Lysine is produced by cultivating Corynebacterium acetophilum hom-73 (NRRL B-3671) under aerobic conditions in a nutrient medium containing sources of assimilable carbon and nitrogen, as well as biotin and either (1) homoserine, (2) threonine and methionine, (3) threonine and o-alkyl homoserine, (4) threonine and cystathionine or (5) threonine and homocysteine. Yeast may be used as a source of biotin and the above aminoacids. The preferred carbon source is acetic acid or its salts; others specified are sugars, other organic acids and alcohols. Specified nitrogen sources are ammonia and its salts, urea and hydrolysates and extracts of protein or nucleic acid-containing materials. An aqueous solution of acetic acid and ammonium acetate provides carbon and nitrogen and controls the pH at 6-9. Minerals which are added may be potassium phosphates, magnesium sulphate, and sodium, manganese and ferric chlorides.
