Abstract
1,199,700. (+ )-Isocitric acid by fermentation. TAKEDA YAKUHIN KOGYO K.K. 12 Dec., 1968 [13 Dec., 1967], No. 59079/68. Heading C2C. (+)-Isocitric acid is prepared by inoculating an (+ )-isocitric acid-accumulating yeast in an aqueous culture medium containing an assimilable carbon source and a digestible nitrogen source, incubating the culture at a pH of 4 to 7À5 at 15-40‹ C. until ( + )-isocitric acid is substantially accumulated in the culture broth and recovering the accumulated ( + )-iso-citric acid therefrom. Preferably the incubation is conducted aerobically at 20‹ to 30‹ C. at pH 5 to 6À5 incorporating a defoaming agent or surfactant. Yeasts belonging to the genera Candida, Hansenula, Pichia, Debaryomyces, and Trichosporon are particularly suitable.
