Abstract
1286208 L-threonine by fermentation AJINOMOTO CO Inc 28 May 1970 [28 May 1969] 25751/70 Heading C2C L-threonine is prepared by culturing an L- threonine producing microorganism of the genus Brevibacterium, Corynebacterium, Arthrobacter or Microbacterium and which is resistant to α- amino-# -hydroxyvaleric acid, at a temperature of from 25‹ to 37‹ C. on a nutrient medium containing an assimilable source of nitrogen and ethanol in a concentration of less than 5 g./dl. as the principal source of assimilable carbon and recovering the accumulated L-threonine from the medium. The ethanol may be fed to the nutrient medium either intermittently or continuously during the culturing in order to at least partly replenish the consumed carbon source. The pH of the medium is preferably between 6 and 9.
