Abstract

1300189 Electrostatic precipitator METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 13 July 1971 [13 July 1970] 32847/71 Heading B2J In an electrostatic precipitator in which corona discharge electrodes secured to an upper carrying structure are tensioned by weights secured to their lower ends, the weights are formed of non-conducting material with horizontally extending openings for receiving a lower spacing structure. As shown, a precipitator comprises collecting electrode plates 1 secured to beams 2 and serrated strip discharge electrodes 3 having end portions 4 bent-over and engaging in tapering upper portions 6 of slots 7 in weights 5 which are preferably formed of waterproof concrete. A spacing structure of ladder like construction comprises spacing spars 9, spacing rungs 11, pins 10 and crosswebs 16, the weights 5 being formed with C- shaped openings 8 and O-slots 12 for receiving the spacing members. In a modified arrangement (Figs. 4-6 and 8, not shown), the spacing rungs are formed as flat strips (15) with narrow portions engaging in O-slots in the weights 5. The discharge strips 3 are secured to an upper carrying frame 17 by being clamped between two keys 18 (Figs. 9-11, not shown) or by being clipped and bolted as in Figs. 12-14 (not shown).
