Abstract
130,008. Leeming, J. A., Rowse, A. A., and Henderson, W. A. C. Oct. 5, 1917. Rope railways.-Relates to rope railways of the kind in which a carrier is hauled along a track rope, and consists in the construction and arrangement of the intermediate posts so that they can be raised and lowered. The track ropes are anchored at one end to the ground, and at the other end are connected to the ground through haulage apparatus, the terminal supports being formed as trestles. The intervening supports consist of upright members 15 mounted in pivotal sockets 30 which have projections 33, 34 on the base and pivotal socket to engage in the raised position, stay wires 20 being also employed. To prevent the support from lying flat on the ground when lowered, a swinging frame 37 is provided which acts as a support. The upper part of the support carries a cross-bar, held level by stay wires 26. The outer ends of the cross-bar have rollers for supporting the haulage rope and lugs 16 through which the carrier rope passes. Stops 23 are provided on the carrier rope to engage with the lugs 16 on the opposite side from which the rope is pulled in the action of raising the posts.
