1300013 Mowing devices H VISSERS NV 12 Jan 1971 [16 Jan 1970] 1435/71 Heading A1F [Also in Division F4] In an agricultural implement 14 (Figs. 1 and 2) for heating crop, upper and lower burner elements 15-16 extend over the width of a flow 51 of crop conveyed through the implement and the flames 55 and 56 are directed at the upper and lower sides of the crop flow 51. The implement 14 is swingably connected by pins 3 to a frame 1 suspended on the power lift links of a tractor, and slides over the ground to pick up either cut crop lying on the ground or crop cut by means of a mowing device 70 (Fig. 5) attached to the implement. The flames 55 and 56 are stated to heat the liquid in the cells of the crop so as to burst the cells and promote drying of the crop after it is returned to the ground. The crop is conveyed from the ground (Fig. 1) or after mowing (Fig. 7) over guides 8 by a tined rotor 5 driven via elements 21-26 by the tractor power take-off. The burner elements 15 and 16 are supplied with air via baffled ducts 17, 19 and 18, 20 by fans 9 driven by rope-and-pulleys 27 from the rotor shaft 12. Each burner element 15 and 16 comprises spray nozzles 31 (Fig. 4) screwed into a conduit at regular spacings and a burner plate 36 having openings 37 aligned with the nozzles 31, the air passing mainly around the plate 36 between connectors 52. Parallel channel members 48 are welded by their edges 49 to the burner wall 47, so that some of the air emerges at 41 to prevent divergence of the flames 55 and 56. Fuel is supplied to the nozzles 31 by a pump connected by a flexible conduit with a fuel tank mounted on the tractor. Asbestos cloth 59 prevents scorching of the field 29 by the flames. The mowing device 70 comprises a frame 60 attachable to the implement 14 by means of screws at supports 63. Rotating mowing members 69 are coupled to toothed wheels 68 driven by toothed wheels 67, toothed wheel 66, bevel gear pair 65 and a rope-and-pulley 64. The implement is supported by a shoe 62 and the lower side of the frame 60.
