Abstract
1299521 Tube mills SLEGTEN SA 20 Feb 1970 [5 March 1969] 8320/70 Heading B2A A tube mill comprises a lining made up of frusto-conical sections 24, 23 Fig. 3 of differing conicity arranged successively so as to exert a sorting action on the grinding balls, the larger balls being urged to migrate towards the feed end and the smaller balls towards the discharge end. The larger angle of conicity may be from 15 to 25 and the smaller angle from half to one third that of the larger. The height of a section at the transition region 8 is less than .05 the diameter of the mill and the length of the smaller angled core is between one and two times the height. The length of the larger cone is as great as conveniently possible. The lining members are corrugated and the corrugations are such that their sides penetrate into the bottom of the load of grinding media .10 without axially deflecting the media, Fig. 5. The plates are bolted at 24 to standard-drilled apertures. Three or more varying conicity sections may be used, and one section may be cylindrical.
