Abstract
1299173 Joint-making packing CORRUGATED PACKING & SHEET METAL CO Ltd and T P NICHOLSON 29 Dec 1969 [23 Oct 1968] 50406/68 Heading F2B A sealing ring 4 has a cross-section in the form of a curve 6 bent back at each end to form sealing flanges 8. In Fig. 2, the ring is housed in a recess 10 in one of the mating parts 12 to be sealed. In Fig. 3, two rings 16, 18 are housed back-to-back in a recess formed by two cylindrical parts 20, 22 secured together and, in use, pressure on the high pressure side H moves the ring 16 in the recess so that it presses ring 18 against wall 24 thereby urging flanges 8 against the cylinder walls. The ring may be of metal, preferably steel, and can be lacquered, painted or electroplated with harder or softer metal or coated with P.T.F.E.
