Abstract

1298874 Cellular concrete panel PITTSBURGH CORNING CORP 3 Feb 1970 [3 Feb 1969] 5102/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division C1] A cellular concrete panel comprises an aggregate of multi-cellular glass nodules, and reinforcing fibres bound in a cellular matrix of cement, the fibres comprising 0À5-25% by wt. of cement on a dry basis. The panel has a density of 25-38À5 lb./ft.<SP>3</SP> and a flex strength of 60-416À7 lb./inch<SP>2</SP>. The nodules are preferably inorganic, spherical, have a bulk density of 7-10 p.c.f., and a diameter of #-“ inch the volumetric ratio nodules: cement, on a dry basis, being from 3 : 1 to 7 : 1. The fibres are preferably non-metallic e.g. asbestos, nylon, or sisal. The panels are formed by mixing the ingredients with water to form a workable mixture, casting a billet from the mixture, cutting the panels from the billet after it has cured for about 18 hours, and then curing the panels to attain the desired tensile strength.
