Abstract

1298423 Diagnostic instruments SIEMENS AG 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970] 21685/71 Heading A5R A hand-held diagnostic instrument for producing an adjustable stimulation current comprises a probe attached to terminals 7, 8 for applying a stimulation current to a patient, an electrical energy storage device 1, a signal chopping device I, a voltage transformer III with an input coupled to an output of the chopping device, a rectifier IV with the input coupled to the output of the transformer, and a switch 2 coupled to an output of the rectifier for applying square wave voltage pulses to the probe for driving the stimulation current. The instrument may be used for testing dental pulp and, as shown, the signal chopping device I is connected to a power regulating stage II serving for amplitude adjustment of the output voltage of the instrument. This regulating stage comprises a voltage divider 3, a transistor 4, and a series resistance 5.
