Abstract

1296377 Laminates RUBEROID Ltd 22 May 1970 [23 May 1969] 26522/69 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions C3 and E1] A flexible membrane is bonded to a substrate by means of bitumen, the membrane being made from a thermoplastic resin composition containing (1) a migratory plasticizer, e.g. dioctyl phthalate, for the resin and (2) nitrile rubber and/or a non-migratory plasticizer, e.g. an epoxidized oil or butyl benzyl phthalate component (2) constituting not less than 50% of the total weight of components (1) and (2). The substrate may be or may form part of a roof, watercourse, damp course or tank. The thermoplastic resin may be polyvinyl chloride or a vinyl chloride copolymer, e.g. with vinyl acetate or vinylidene chloride, containing more than 50 mol% of vinyl chloride units. The thermoplastic composition from which the membrane is made may also contain a stabilizer, e.g. Cd/Ba stearate or basic lead carbonate, a lubricant, e.g. stearic acid, an inert fibrous material, e.g. nylon, polyethylene terephthalate or cotton fibres, and a pigment.
