Abstract
1296315 Fire extinguishing in warehouses CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE AG 10 April 1971 [5 March 1970 10 Sept 1970] 22912/71 Heading A5A A fire extinguishing device for the protection of stacks of goods 2 in warehouses, storage and assembly sheds comprises tubular member 3 freely suspended at 4 from ceiling 5 and screw connected thereat to rigid waterpipe 6, the member 3 extending downwards substantially the entire depth of the stacks. Member 3 may be a rigid or flexible hose with spray holes 8, closed at its free end by dummy coupling 7. Pipe 6 includes electromagnetic stop valve 9 actuated by current source 10 when tripped by smoke warning device 11. In the Fig. 2 embodiment pipe 6 is supported below ceiling 5 on anchor clips 6a and travelling crane 12 moves along rails 14 over the entire shed length. A flexible hose 3 is folded and releasably retained by thermoplastic foil strips 14 having a weak point or a predetermined breaking point. Alternatively, a plastics tap having a ripping seam may be used.
