Abstract
129,581. Jackson, W. J. Mellersh-, (West Gravitiser Corporation). Feb. 5, 1919. InvaLids' and surgical bedsteads.-A table for medical and other purposes, and on which a person may rest in an inclined position, is provided with a top which can be raised into an inclined position above the table frame, which can be adjusted in inclination by adjustment of supporting- members which rest on the floor. The table top 4 is connected to the table frame 1 by links 8 at one end and pins and slots 12, 14 at the other end, and is retained in its inclined position by a foot section 15 which rests under the table top when not in use. Laterally-folding supporting-rockers 5 are connected by cords 25 to the table top 4 so that they are automatically folded into the table frame 1 when the table top is lowered, and in this condition the table has the appearance of an ordinary couch. The fastenings 31 which retain the supporting-rockers in position for use are also automatically operated by the table top. The inclination of the table as a whole is varied by adjustment of a runner 42 with rollers 44 engaging guide-slots on one of the supporting-rockers 5. The adjustment is effected step-by-step in either direction by pawl and detent mechanism controlled by a pivoted arm 54 and reversing-lever 78 at the end of this arm. When the rockers 5 are in use, a catch 38 is released to allow the legs 2 to be raised to the position shown by spring action.
