Abstract

1295028 Pressure-sensitive transfer element COLUMBIA RIBBON & CARBON MFG CO Inc 19 April 1971 [9 April 1970] 25375/71 Heading D2B A presure-sensitive transfer element comprises an oleophilic plastics film having an oleophobic thermoplastic resin undercoating and a pressure-transferable oleophilic wax imaging layer on top of the undercoating. The weight of the undercoating per square foot of the film is from 0.0005 to 0.05 grams. The back surface of the film may be coated with a conventional anti-static wash coating. The oleophilic plastics film may be an oriented polyethylene or polypropylene film. The oleophobic thermoplastic resin may be a vinyl resin, e.g. polyvinyl butyrate, polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl butyral, polyvinyl acetate, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, styrenemethyl methacrylate copolymer, or a nylon. The wax imaging layer comprises one or more waxes, pigment, e.g. carbon' black, magnetic iron oxide, optionally with one or more oils and fillers.
