1294990 Dispensing sheet material GEORGIA-PACIFIC CORP 22 Dec 1970 [12 Jan 1970] 60853/70 Heading A4G A roll 38 of e.g. toilet tissue has trunnion shafts 48, 56 rotatably mounted on longitudinally downwardly forwardly sloping surfaces 62, 64 of channel section support members 24, 26 of a cabinet 12, surface 62 also sloping laterally downwardly inwardly to bias roll 38 axially towards member 26. When roll 38 is unused, the front of the roll abuts a front wall (20) of the cabinet and the left end of the roll abuts an extremity 63 of member 26. As the roll is consumed, the shafts 48, 56 move progressively down the surfaces 62, 64 due to the forward slope thereof, and when the roll is substantially exhausted the left end of the roll no longer engages extremity 63 and the roll and trunnions are shifted to the left. A flange 54 of the left trunnion 44 and the core 40 are received within a notch 66 in member 26, and the section of member 26 between notch 66 and the lower end thereof is received within a recess 60 of the left trunnion 44 see Fig. 4 (not shown). The shaft 48 of the right trunnion 42 disengages from surface 62 and the roll and trunnions gravitate out of the open bottom of the cabinet. The lower end of front wall (20) is flared to hold the tissue during tearing. Member 26 also has a notch (76), Figs.2, 4 (not shown) that co-operates with notch 66. Instead of the slopes of surfaces 62, 64 urging the roll axially and radially, springs could be used. Guide channels 68, 70 of different dimensions corresponding to different diameters of the shafts 48, 56 are provided for loading through the open bottom, the channels including upper and lower cut-outs 65, 67 and 69, 71 for the insertion of one or two unused rolls, members 24, 26 including restraining flanges 72, 74 for the trunnions 42, 44.
