1294781 p-Tertiary butyl phenol FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 19 April 1971 [20 Oct 1969] 9711/71 Divided out of 1249571 Heading C2C A process for the preparation of p-tertiary butyl phenol comprises-reacting together phenol and isobutene in the presence of boron trifluoride as catalyst, cooling the reaction mixture obtained, crushing the crystalline product and inactivating the boron trifluoride by addition of ammonia. The solid ammonia-boron trifluoride adduct may be removed by filtration or centrifugation.
