Abstract
1294565 Hydraulic actuators INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO 28 Jan 1970 [28 Jan 1969] 4081/70 Heading F1P [Also in Division E1] Two linear hydraulic motors 20,20<SP>1</SP> Fig.2 serve to swing in either direction and about a vertical pivotal axis 13 a bracket 10 Fig.1 and hence a boom N, dipper stick D and shovel R of a back hoe and each motor is pivotally connected at the head end at spaced axes 40,40<SP>1</SP> to a support stand S provided with said pivot 13 and at the rod end to a common axis 14 of bracket 10; the motors being controlled by a directional flow valve V and two variable metering spool valves 200,200<SP>1</SP> each pivotally attached at 42,42<SP>1</SP> to its associated motor 20, 20<SP>1</SP> and at 40,41<SP>1</SP> to the support S thereby controlling fluid-flow in accordance with the position of its associated motor and one motor being driven during the initial stage of the swing- ing motion of bracket 10 and the other motor being driven during the closing stage of said motion. A starting spool valve 200 is fully open and 200<SP>1</SP> fully closed as shown in Fig.4. Thus valve 200 connects a pressure supply line 60 to a service line 64 leading to the head of motor 20 thereby extending the rod 21; fluid being exhausted through a line 65, a cross bore 306 in a poppet 304, past relief valve 300 into a chamber 240 a crossbore 211 in the spool, a chamber 235, a port 101 and a return line 62. At the same time pressure in supply line 61 is blocked by a check valve 251<SP>1</SP> of closed valve 200<SP>1</SP> and fluid from the rod end of motor 20<SP>1</SP> which is being extended by its mechanical connection with motor 20 is exhausted through line 65<SP>1</SP> the cross bore of poppet 304<SP>1</SP>, past relief valve 300<SP>1</SP> to chamber 240<SP>1</SP>, and spool groove 212<SP>1</SP> to port 102<SP>1</SP> and hence either through line 64<SP>1</SP> to the head end of motor 20<SP>1</SP> or through return line 63. As motor 20 extends, valve 200 partly closes to obturate the exhaust whilst as motor 20<SP>1</SP> retracts valve 200<SP>1</SP> partly opens to allow access of pressure fluid in line 61 to service line 65<SP>1</SP> whilst line 64<SP>1</SP> is connected to the return line 63. As motor 20<SP>1</SP> retracts valve 200<SP>1</SP> fully opens whilst valve 200 is partly open and at the end of the pivotal movement of bracket 10 valve 200<SP>1</SP> remains fully open and valve 200 fully closed.
