Abstract

1294524 Pulleys W OXE 4 Feb 1970 5337/70 Heading F2Q A cable pulley has a wear-resisting peripheral insert of elastomeric material, e.g. polyurethane, in the form of a ring 3 with spaced apart radial, axially directed slots 5, Fig. 1, or a series of blocks 8 separated by narrow spaces 9, Fig. 3. The slots 5 or spaces 9 improve dissipation of the heat generated in the elastomeric material by repeated deformation. In Fig. 1, the ring 3 is supported by a metal ring 1 and axially located by end plates 4. In Fig. 3, the blocks 8 are held in axial slots in a pulley body or ring 6. Fig. 4 is the axial cross-section of a block or ring comprising a centre layer 10 of harder material than adjacent layers 11.
